The flaw in this argument is that the USERS are not the ones who have to make the decision whether to port. It's the DEVELOPERS. And if the developers see the Linux API as universal and therefore write to it, it MAKES NO DIFFERENCE how many users FreeBSD has. The ports will not happen.
