Thanks for your support. Did you reboot after you put the gateway option in your /etc/rc.conf? If not, it wouldn't have been read yet. You can look in /etc/rc.network to see what the rc.conf option would do. In this case, all you have to do is: sysctl -w net.inet.ip.forwarding=1 as root.
