Same for me. I think all special symbols should be escaped, so
pkg_delete -f docbook-xml* docbook-sk* docbook[2345]??-* docbook-4*
should be
pkg_delete -f docbook-xml\* docbook-sk\* docbook\[2345\]\?\?-\* docbook-4\*
