On two separate machines with the source tree synched to 4-stable (at
about 10pm MDT Aug 14th) and a rebuild of the GENERIC kernel, the gif*
devices do not show up in an ifconfig -a.

all of the other pseudo-device interfaces are present, except gif0-4.
 no modifications were made to the GENERIC kernel, and a config -r was
run before the make depend && make && make install.
