How about just PKGPREFIX? and also a PKGSUFFIX which can be used for
ports which have options (like the ispell ports, or the letter/a4 style
ports)?
+PKGNAME= ${PKGPREFIX:S/$/-/:N-}${PORTNAME}-${PKGSUFFIX:S/$/-/:N-}${PORTVERSION}
