But NTFS-3G is FUSE-based.  OTOH, Mac OS X has a native read-only
NTFS driver apparently inherited from FreeBSD.  Unfortunately there
isn't much for the two projects to share in this area: Just reading
from NTFS is almost trivial, and the rest is system-specific VFS
stuff.
