I think I fixed all the GNOME problems (except mozilla).  Attached are
two patches I'm unsure of, and can't test.  Kris, could you run the
build with the attached two patches to gnomoku and gdm2?  

patch-user.cc goes with gnomoku
patch-daemon_gdm.c goes with gdm2

The mozilla thing will take slightly longer.
