 Well I can see your point, one would have thought as the compilers 
have evolved stuff like this would have been fixed and working OK, so
much for that thought.  If I am not the only of-the-wall person who has
made this mistake, maybe at a minimum a note should be in the various 
config files, or at least in the notes stating that it's strongly advised
one not use the -O2 flag while compiling the OS, as it can cause things
to break.  Guess I just got lucky on the Intel boxes, so live and learn.

 FYI, I am currently recompiling 4.0-STABLE on one of my Alpha's, and 
guess in a few hours I'll see if all works OK after an installworld and
a quick reboot..  :)
