Yes. this is cvs's brain-damaged way of storing a 1-line change when a file leaves a well-developed vendor branch. Yes, there really were 1000+ lines added to the repo for this single 1-line change. :-( This is why touching src/contrib files for trivial stuff (eg: spelling fixes) is so strongly discouraged.
