I tried this out, and depending on the CD I tried, either grip did nothing, or started generated a file(.wav) that just grew and grew and grew until I finally killed it at 1.4G. Figuring I'd see if cdda2wav would run on its own, I entered the same command style that grip had. I have since added the -I flag to get rid of that warning about my CDROM not being a SCSI drive. I have cut and paste what happens below. Now, again, depending on the CD, behavior is different, but one common thread seems to be the "cdda2wav: Operation not permitted. cannot set posix realtime scheduling policy" message.
