I head rumors (in the istec mailinglist and in some german newsgroups)
that the Part of Emmerich who did the Istec PBX will continue developing and
manufacturing.

Depends on your definition of "popular" ;-)
It has bugs - lots of them. The big advantage is that it's the only PBX
with a configuration tool for platforms other than DOS/Windows.

to keep `on topic'...
I'm not sure if ports/comm is a good place. It uses a serial port to
configure a communiction device - but you can't use it to communicate...
