Since I am a novice, with minimal UNIX experience, what is the
difference between linux and freeBSD?

Also, I noticed that certain compilers such as C++ are included in the
freeBSD CD. Will this allow me to write programs which will run under
windows 98/NT?

Thank you for your help.
