I went through the procedure again, and wrote everything down, as per your suspicion it appears to be a translation problem... Install error reported: 'FAILED TO LOAD THE ROOT DISTRIBUTION. I've used the pfdisk utility included with the cd, and punched in the reported numbers..to no avail.
