Is the above /dv/cuaa0 (note the missing 'e') a typo from you or from the 
installation script?

Which ppp device are you using?  The one on cuaa0 or cuaa1?  Don't forget 
to include the rest of the ppp parameters you're using also and your modem 
type just in case it matters.
