Sorry, I just sent in a follow up to my original, after trying a second 
time to make sure that it wasn't something i was doing with /dev ... I 
tried to put a bit more detail into there as to what I'm doing, and how 
things are setup ... if I've still missed something, though, *please* do 
ask ...
