Configuration is really easy: 1. edit /etc/uucp/port to have another entry: port port3 type tcp 2. change /etc/uucp/sys to use that port for the connection: system foo.bar.do.main alias foo myname myuucp call-login Umyuucp port port3 port type tcp # don't remember why I've got here as well. address foo.bar.do.main # FQDN here That's all. In the file /usr/src/i4b/FreeBSD/installation there is a patch listed: NOTE-3: This only applies to FreeBSD current (3.0): You'll get error messages during kernel linking because md5c.c gets linked twice to the kernel, which results in duplicate symbol definitions. To fix it, delete the following two lines from your /sys/conf/files : kern/md5c.c optional sppp net/if_spppsubr.c optional sppp and run "config YOUR_KERNEL_DEFINITION_FILE". I just happen to have sent a patch for this to the developers list last week. Here's a patch relative to 0.63 (I assume you're all using that :) BTW you should delete the "vector isicintr" from your kernel config file (ONLY for a really current -current) since it's no longer required. I don't know if this is the right mailing list to put this question but as it involves i4b i will post to this list also and if someone can help i woul apreciate. First i will describe my configuration. I have three pc's at home, and i have a connection to an ISP. This connection is made by ISDN. And i thought the following. Well i can put FreeBsd in the small computer and connect this to my ISP, and then build a small network and i can surf the internet from both computers. I have done almost everything by the book. I have compiled the kernel with the options IPFIREWALL and IPDIVERT. I added the natd to the /etc/services. I enabled the gateway and the firewall through rc.conf Then i add the use the following to connect to my ISP: # Put isdn working isdnd -l papauth="myauthname=xxx myauthsecret=xxx" spppcontrol isppp0 myauthproto=pap $papauth hisauthproto=none ifconfig isppp0 inet 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.1 link1 debug route add default 0.0.0.1 And then i use natd -interface isppp0 And the rules /sbin/ipfw -f flush /sbin/ipfw add divert natd all from any to any via ed0 /sbin/ipfw add pass all from any to any I think the problem is related to the fact that i am using dynamic ip's when i connect to the ISP, so i tried the dynamic flag in the natd, but nothing change. I have 2.2.7 RELEASE. If i don't use the natd and the firewall i can connect to the internet using freebsd. And i can connect from the computers to the freebsd through my network. But when i use the natd and ipfw, i can't to the internet and i can't either connect from the computers to the freebsd Did anyone experience some problems like this. Can anyone point directions ? That's because natd needs to be on isppp0 and isdn4bsd needs a patch to work smoothly with the -dynamic option. I've attached one possible patch from garyj@muc.de. This is probably not the official patch, but it works fine for me and several others. > > I have 2.2.7 RELEASE. > > If i don't use the natd and the firewall i can connect to the internet > using freebsd. The telcos in Europe implemented ISDN in accord with the ISTEC standards. But the Americans (of which I'm one, so don't flame me) typically went their own way and ignored the rest of the world. So we need docs that allow us to identify how the US standards differ from the ISTEC stuff so that we can put in support for them. Once that's done we need someone to test it, of course. I guess you're volunteering ? we've already had a few volunteers to work on beating isdn4bsd into shape for the North American market, but they somehow always disappeared without a trace. --- Gary Jennejohn Home - garyj@muc.de Work - garyj@fkr.dec.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isdn Sat Oct 31 00:33:51 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id AAA28744 for freebsd-isdn-outgoing; Sat, 31 Oct 1998 00:33:51 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from peedub.muc.de (newpc.muc.ditec.de [194.120.126.33]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id AAA28739 for ; Sat, 31 Oct 1998 00:33:49 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from garyj@peedub.muc.de) Received: from peedub.muc.de (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by peedub.muc.de (8.9.1/8.6.9) with ESMTP id JAA25244 for ; Sat, 31 Oct 1998 09:28:52 +0100 (CET) Message-Id: <199810310828.JAA25244@peedub.muc.de> X-Mailer: exmh version 2.0.2 2/24/98 To: freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Subject: Documentation From: Gary Jennejohn Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Date: Sat, 31 Oct 1998 09:28:51 +0100 Sender: owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org In a recent mail (sorry, lost it) someone asked about which documentation we would need to get support for North America into i4b. I can't answer the docs question, but can say that I have been told that there are something like three to five different implementations of ISDN in the USA. Which one you get depends on where you live. Sheesh indeed ;( It appears that several of them are closely related, so it's perhaps not as bad as it sounds. -- Chris To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-isdn" in the body of the message From owner-freebsd-isdn Sat Oct 31 06:45:38 1998 Return-Path: Received: (from majordom@localhost) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) id GAA02188 for freebsd-isdn-outgoing; Sat, 31 Oct 1998 06:45:38 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG) Received: from zippo.unna.ping.de (zippo.unna.ping.de [195.37.121.1]) by hub.freebsd.org (8.8.8/8.8.8) with ESMTP id GAA02173 for ; Sat, 31 Oct 1998 06:45:23 -0800 (PST) (envelope-from oskar@zippo.unna.ping.de) Received: from zippo.unna.ping.de (oskar@localhost [127.0.0.1]) by zippo.unna.ping.de (8.8.4/8.8.7) with ESMTP id PAA27354; Sat, 31 Oct 1998 15:43:59 +0100 (CET) Message-Id: <199810311443.PAA27354@zippo.unna.ping.de> X-Mailer: exmh version 2.0gamma 1/24/97 To: David Wetzel Cc: Ignatios Souvatzis , ISDN-List From: Jan-Hinrich Fessel Subject: Re: new mainboard - new fun :-( In-Reply-To: Deine Nachricht vom Fri, 30 Oct 98 11:31:12 +0100. <199810301031.LAA00288@luigi.turbocat.de> X-Face: 'NlN?Dkb1WA4Fdbh(T&Okll'P?h$Ak1{5,LHx<2=v@!qg.G~6G?;]y`C/D#x5"GWN_.U4PA >rlR=V&h576tqk7-~tfGVVtZrybdmaG|iki>{4Kd&ra/d$&vleXP;y/Z"?4Q|$q?{T}SW]_bUHZmcH &C1^iA\&{>h66//IRsKzy[+f}l-:wc6T\Eg,Xc={E8Q\q"AqsV!!YG*/_fMcSlUw0pZ6j!KBMSTzz" Wd}uG:Zv#)gV?IGi^^fW0<`sO2D_MKP]gzx_\o%m<|~^+U>tu,)`*OJ]3n&@!K Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; boundary="==_Exmh_-2102273038P"; micalg=pgp-md5; protocol="application/pgp-signature" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Date: Sat, 31 Oct 1998 15:43:38 +0100 Sender: owner-freebsd-isdn@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.org --==_Exmh_-2102273038P Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii In message <199810301031.LAA00288@luigi.turbocat.de>you write: > The problem is that my teles does not work.
