I don't speak for the maintainer of that package/port, and, honestly,
I don't know that particular package/port, so this is just a
reflection about ports and packages in general.

The default options for pre-built packages can't satisfy everyone's
needs. That would be impossible. A feature that is useful or even
essential to you, may be utterly useless to someone else, and it may
even cause conflicts with other installed packages.

It's quite easy to change the options and enable or disable features
to suit your needs. Just cd to the port's directory and type make
config and change the options. When you're done, press Enter. Then
compile and install.
