If you want the newest ports, they can't be thoroughly tested, which is why I called the code freeze. You *WILL* get the latest ports on there, as of this weekend. It's just that holding a freeze indefinately like this is getting stressful on both me and people who want to contribute improved ports to the collection. I really think you're not understanding something: For every port which is altered or upgraded, or new port integrated, a package needs to be built, and tested, this takes TIME. Would you rather we had a ports collection brimming with well tested and WORKING ports and packages, or a collection filled with half-finished and poorly tested code? I, for one, would NOT be proud in any way to put my name to the latter ... And since I'm in charge of the ports collection in Satoshi's absence, the ports collection will be snapshotted when I'm happy with it. It'll be the first time that the ports ARE ready before the release is made (in the past, it's always been a bit of a race, and since I basically put the 2.0 packages together by hand in the last 2 days before the CD was cut, I know what I'm talking about!), but there are external limitations on us this time which are factoring in my decision.
