I also know that the virtualbox guest additions are generally in a very bad shape. There are at least a few more bugs and features missing but nobody had time yet to debug that and fix those problems. I spend some time to integrate the additions better into the system (rc scripts, autostart ...) during the 4.0 development phase but I guess we need a few weeks of manpower to get the additions fully tested first, identify the problems and implement the missing features.
