Well, I tried the /etc/malloc.conf thing a long time ago but
the only thing that worked for really huge emails (100MB) together
with 3.11.pre7 was my patch at

http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/cvsweb.cgi/ports/mail/procmail/patches/Attic/patch-ae?rev=1.1

which isn't needed anymore for 3.13.1.
