Why don't you try with mplayer ?

/usr/local/bin/mplayer -vo xv -tv 
input=1:chanlist=europe-east:driver=bsdbt848:norm=PAL tv://
Of course you have to change settings to match your regional settings :)
You can change channels with "h" & "l"
