Ok, I tried that and made sure that I (not only root) had permissions to write
to /dev/psm0 (just in case) and now i get:

Cannot open host mouse device "/dev/psm0". Device of resource busy. Unable to
open hose mouse device for full-screen VGA. Full-screen VGA will not be
  available.

Is this because I'm not running moused?

Thanks,
