Thanks for your links. I have a hell of a time setting up disks. This is
what I did:

# fdisk -BI da0 (using just -I failed)
# bsdlabel -w da0

Then I get stuck.

# bsdlabel da0s1 (fails)

So, as usual, I retreat back to sysinstall.

# sysinstall

Now I have da0s1

# bsdlabel da0s1

# /dev/da0s1:
type: SCSI
disk: da0s1
label:
flags:
bytes/sector: 512
sectors/track: 63
tracks/cylinder: 255
sectors/cylinder: 16065
cylinders: 24321
sectors/unit: 390721968
rpm: 3600
interleave: 1
trackskew: 0
cylinderskew: 0
headswitch: 0 # milliseconds
track-to-track seek: 0 # milliseconds
drivedata: 0

8 partitions:
# size offset fstype [fsize bsize bps/cpg]
  c: 390716802 0 unused 0 0 # "raw" part,
don't edit
  d: 390716802 0 4.2BSD 2048 16384 28552
bsdlabel: partition c doesn't cover the whole unit!
bsdlabel: An incorrect partition c may cause problems for standard system
utilities

Now I wonder why this disk which is supposed to be 200 GB, was detected by
FreeBSD (when connected) as 190 GB, shows up as 186 GB inside sysinstall,
and has a size of 180 GB when seen by df.
