Or, you can grab the sound driver from -stable and try it.
tar -cf sound.tar  --stable-/sys/i386/isa/sound 
then on your system ,
cd /sys/i386/isa
mv sound sound.old
tar -xf sound.tar 

rebuild the kernel and off you go ...
