(oh not another I hear you cry!) ... a message was posted to announce (or similar) showing the new ports that have been added, perhaps on a weekly basis? Of course, people could subscribe to the ports mailing list but there's a lot of extra traffic (which newbies might not understand??) when you just want to hear about whats new.
