First, does gdm/kdm support this? If so, do you have to select keymaps inside them? If we need to select keymaps inside them, then since slim does not have such options, does setting LC_CTYPE and LANG in /usr/local/etc/rc.d/slim before run_rc_command help? If setting LC_CTYPE and LANG helps, then maybe we can add extra rc.conf options. Since I don't use special keymaps here, I can not test this easily....
