DO NOT FOR ANY REASON turn off/not resp >ond to the keyboard port Unfortunately, many motherboards (BIOSs?) won't initialise a PS/2 keyboard interface unless a keyboard is connected at boot time, so if you plug in a keyboard subsequently it won't work.
