/usr/share/skel/dot.profile has
PATH=/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:
/usr/X11R6/bin:$HOME/bin

so I would check your ~/.profile in this case.
