There are even sites that show a pure command line version and that's what I am attempting to run (different versions for different SSD manufacturers seem to have different interfaces, and I am taking guess that phsion is right manufacturer of mine since it is OEM, also I can't find any definitive answer on if it is or not but the model next higher up in the product line is phsion). So the long and short is it all depends. You are correct when I did run that specific version on a MSDOS6 mem stick I made it said it didn't run in dos mode. > You would, evidently, have to run some flavor of Window$ on the hardware > in question. > See above. > Barring that, can you give this list some more detail about the hardware > and what you are trying to do? > Ryzen 5 2600X MSI Tomahawk MB 1 TB SSD, Inland Pro, (working and is the machine I am replying from right now) 250 GB SSD, Inland Pro (this is the drive I am attempting to unbrick, I don't need any of the data on it I am just attempting to save a trip to the store and the $30 needed to buy a new one, a trip that would take 5 hrs from the moment of getting ready to leave for the store to the moment in sealing the case backup after installing it). The main goal is making a dual boot machine so I can try out a game I was given as a present. The game requires full 3d acceleration and due to a *KNOWN BUG* (it is even mentioned in the source code) vitualbox 5+nvidia+glx do not play well at all when in 3d mode. There is a workaround in vbox 6 but the FreeBSD vbox team is having a very tough time getting vbox 6 to even compile ( https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=234878), I have done what I can and have given feedback on it but once they got it to work on 6.0.X Oracle announced a critical security issue in 6.0.X so they had to move to 6.1.X which seems to among other things not like any version of LLVM (the linux community is having just as many problems according to the virtual box forum at Oracle). No one has gotten anything that even resembles GPU passthrough to work on bhyve, so that leaves dual booting.
