Did it only recently become mandatory if -interface isn't in use?  Only
after my last cvsup did natd refuse to run without adding "alias_address
${OIP}" to natd.conf...  Previously, this had worked:

log yes
use_sockets yes
same_ports yes
unregistered_only yes
