I haven't noticed the regression in time for firefox 34.0 update.
It'll be fixed in firefox 35.0 (around 2015-01-13) or maybe sooner
if a committer steps up.

GTK3 in www/firefox isn't polished yet even after backporting a lot of
fixes landed upstream (37.0a1 currently). One can compare look&feel
against GTK2 by installing a uniform theme for both e.g.,

  # use Adwaita (default) Gtk3 theme for Gtk2 apps
  $ pkg install gnome-themes-standard
  $ echo 'gtk-theme-name = "Adwaita"' >>~/.gtkrc-2.0

Or wait a few more releases. At that point the issues affecting your
productivity maybe fixed.

Disclaimer: I do dogfood GTK3 but only as firefox-nightly with nvidia-driver.
            Other X11 drivers maybe more fragile.
