hi all,

i'm getting a strange panic message while installing 3.2-RELEASE

my configuration is :

MB 5AGM2 chaintech with K6-2 400 MHz, 128MB ram

the disk is IBM-DHEA-36480 connected as primary slave

i boot using floppies, start configuring the future system, the disk is
probed correctly, i can partition and make newfs the disk (only one disk is
used for freebsd), when the PC start reading the distribution from the CD
or from the DOS partition of the other disk after a _random_
amount of time i get a panic (panic: page fault).

such panic occours only when reading

my CDROM is a CRD-8400B (40x) and the other disk is a 10GB IBM disk

the only time i was so lucky to get the installation finish i had the same
panic the first time i accessed my CD to install packages.

the diagnostic on the panic was: page not in memory.

i already tryed almost everything on the disk setup (even changed the IDE
controlled, disabled DMA and forced PIO mode 0) and the ram timing (a single
128MB DIMM 100MHz)

anyway all the system is working fine under windoz98

anyone out there has clues or had the same problem ?

thanks in advance

Dario
