perhaps you should rename the courier files in /usr/local/etc/rc.d from 
<servicename>.sample to <servicename>? Like:

cd /usr/local/etc/rc.d
mv courier-imap-pop3d.sh.sample courier-imap-pop3d.sh

And then try again?
