We have a very similar machine doing exactly the same thing.

Then the 3c589 isn't dropping into promiscuous mode.  We're using the
PCCARD stuff on that machine, which uses the ep0 driver thus we get
promis. mode.  The zp0 driver can't do promis. mode.
