They say that I must be a company (I can do that) and must sign an NDA (I won't do that). I don't see why I have to sign an NDA to write some software using rfcs. The MPPC spec publishes the format, but nobody's allowed to implement it without an NDA ? You'd only ever get this from M$ ! Up 'till now, it didn't really bother me 'cos I had a modem that did hardware compression. Now I have an ISDN line and nothing compresses anything - I've got a vested interest. My previous message was more of an appeal for somebody with a bit of clout (this *is* freebsd-isp) to talk to Stac or M$ to convince them to give me written permission to implement their protocol.
