Aehm, is telnet supposed to exit with any determined exit status? Reading "man telnet" every search for "exit" or "return" fails. And skimming over the sections there's none about this topic (where others have a list of diagnostic codes, etc). Maybe netcat (it's in the ports) would be helpful for you. From my personal experience I never found telnet to be handy for being "remote controlled". That's why I don't know it any other way then interactive. :) > I have noticed this behaviour since I started with 2.2.8, and > thought it would be nice to know the reason for this strange > behaviour. UTSL, if your interest in strong enough. :> I guess the exit code has never been of concern and your experience with it being 0 or 1 comes from different program paths followed when prompted/prompting or not. virtually yours 82D1 9B9C 01DC 4FB4 D7B4 61BE 3F49 4F77 72DE DA76 Gerhard Sittig true | mail -s "get gpg key" Gerhard.Sittig@gmx.net --=20 If you don't understand or are scared by any of the above ask your parents or an adult to help you.
