I have a 1950, although the controller is detected as:
mfi0: <Dell PERC 5/i> mem 0xd80f0000-0xd80fffff,0xfc5e0000-0xfc5fffff 
irq 78 at device 14.0 on pci2

And works fine with 6.1-R  I know of a ton of people running FBSD 6.1 
and 6.2RC1 on these machines....you might consider posting your issue 
to questions@ where it's more likely to catch their attention.
