This is intended.  Can you describe a specific problem when clang is the C
compiler?  I haven't had any problems and can't find any reported problems.=

If there were a specific package that had problems with clang, users could
always customize the compiler used for package builds.

P.S., Memory profiling was turned off in the second output, not because you
chose clang, but because you changed the BLAS option, right?
