It turns out that this Toshiba ships *without*serial*ports*. While I've proofread it, anything that looks really and truly wrong is probably my fault. For those who missed the earlier general complaint-to-the-world: This is a brand new Toshiba that hangs very quickly when trying to install. I'm trying to install -current because a) the FreeBSD book I'm writing is supposed to document 5-stable, and b) because -current supports interrupt routing. (While I'm aware that (b) is a lousy reason, I'm kind of stuck by (a). :( ) Using the -current snapshot from current.freebsd.org, snapshot 5.0-20010507-CURRENT Interestingly, the 20010514-CURRENT snapshot failed to boot entirely; it hung at a single horizontal bar upon inserting the first boot floppy. I do have a second laptop with a hard drive that fits this Toshiba, so I can fairly easily get a custom kernel or what-have-you -- if the blasted thing would just boot. Any suggestions gratefully appreciated. This first is a boot -v; I couldn't hit scroll lock quickly enough to capture the initial output. :( Here's the last screen, however.
