You can use cvsup to update the ports just like the other parts of FreeBSD. If you don't have cvsup installed yet, give the handbook a look and go through the simple installation procedure. The handbook also gives you details on how to update the ports collection specifically. http://www.freebsd.org/ if you don't have it installed locally.
