From: asami@vader.cs.berkeley.edu (Satoshi Asami) Sender: owner-hardware@freebsd.org X-Loop: FreeBSD.org Precedence: bulk * I am just about to get an Atlas 2 UW SCSI 3 drive and was wondering which * supported controller will get the best out of the drive? I would recommend an NCR (53c875). The Adaptec 2940UW is a fine card too but seems to uncover the bugs in the older firmware. I was losing several files per day to bad inodes and such. Quantum hasn't come up with a firmware upgrade for the wide Atlas-IIs. (You can only find narrow Atlas-IIs on their ftp site "ftp.qntm.com".) Satoshi
