This will depend on the quality of your cable, the speed of your machine, 
and the load it is under etc.  However you SHOULD be able to go upto at 
least 19200 and maybe even 38400 with a 16450. With a 16550 and a half 
decent cable you should be able to go all the way up to 115200, or at 
least 57600.
