Have a look at this tutorial. It is pascal specific, but it is so well
written that it will give you a good foundation.
http://www.bastisoft.de/pascal/pasinet.html If you get FreePascal (it
is a port) you will be able to follow along. The tutorial will teach
you the basics, from there you can apply what you have learned to any
language.
