I see the same thing and it was around the same time. I do not know what the deal is and just haven't had enough time to see what commit elicited this behavior (I've tried different versions of xmms back to 0.9.5.1 and they all use 100% of the CPU now when playing back--they used to burn about 6% on my PII 450).
