However, it requires extra effort for application developers (not necessarily just kernel developers) who want to profile the applications they are working on. I think application developers is a larger portion of our userbase than you are allowing for. However, that notwithstanding, profiled libraries are not actually costing users anything (except for ones who build world by hand), but removing them from default installs does remove functionality. -- John Baldwin
