Hi,

I'm trying to use /usr/ports/emulators/vmware2 on a
  FreeBSD 5.0-20000506-CURRENT
system (the one that is packaged in the Toolkit June 2000 CD).

First of all, I had to
  # ln -s /usr/src/sys/conf/kmod.mk /usr/share/mk/bsd.kmod.mk
to get the port compiled and installed.

While trying to load the vmware kldmodules
  # /usr/local/etc/rc.d/vmware.sh start
I get the following error message:

kldload: can't load /usr/local/lib/vmware/lib/modules/vmmon_up.ko: Exec format error
kldload: can't load /usr/local/lib/vmware/lib/modules/vmnet.ko: Exec format error
./vmware.sh: cannot create /dev/vmnet1: no such device or address

as well as the following kernel message (dmesg output):

  link_elf: symbol linux_ioctl_register_handler undefined

Of course, linux_base-6.1 and linux_devtools_6.1 packages are installed.

Any ideas how to fix that?

Thanks,

-Farid.
