We are looking in to this issue as well.

Could you try setting the sysctl kern.cam.da.<disk>.minimum_cmd_size
to 10 and see if that works any better for you?

The doubled LUNs issue is actually a bug in the FreeBSD virtio-scsi
driver, masked in QEMU but not in GCE; see kern pr/185626.
