It won't work.  VMWare has some hooks into the linux kernel.  The linux emu
won't handle that.

The best thing to do is e-mail VMWare and show them your interest.  If they
get enough email about it they will make a version for FreeBSD.

I just saw pretty cool app, even if it is kinda expensive, VMWare.  I was
wondering if anybody out there has gotten it to compile on FreeBSD.  FreeBSD
isn't a supported platform for it, Linux is however.  I'm gonna give it a
