This is with 2.0R or the 2.0-950210-SNAP?  You are probably running into the
problem that newfs doesn't allocate large enough cylinder groups for a
drive with that type of translation.  If you are trying the SNAP, then I
guess a nuke is in your future, but I know of at least two people who
have doen this sucessfully under SNAP.
