I wanted to know if it was advisable to use "synth" to update applications that are located in a "jail." Obviously, "synth" would have to be run from the jail also. Yeah, I misunderstood your question! Synth is a repository builder, and so it is designed exactly for that. However it is a "simplified" version of Poudriere, and while using Synth all machines using its repository will share packages with the same personalizations. I mean it is not possible to use Synth in the same way of Poudriere, to build ports for different machines using different OPTIONS, FreeBSD versions, etc. this is the only downside.
